Try this "Let's Make Words!" placemat - an individual or partner activity, where students explore different sounds each letter or group of letters make. 

The purpose of this resource is to give emerging readers a chance to practice making words. This resource is not a lesson in itself, as students need to be taught how to read.

I give this resource out after teaching the sounds each letter or group of letters make. 

I’ve used this in my own class as a take home activity or in centres.
